“From Fundació TicSalut, and with the confidence of our Board, we will continue to work to consolidate a kind of foundation that will act more and more as a catalyst of service needs of both professionals and citizens”, Dr. Francesc García Cuyàs, the Director of Fundació TicSalut and General Coordinator of ICTs in the Health Department, says in his presentation of the Annual Report 2013.

In this publication, the axes of the Fundació TicSalut’s Strategic Plan 2013-2017 are developed:

  1. To be benchmarks in managing demand
  2. To be benchmarks in standardisation and interoperability
  3. To be benchmarks as an observatory of innovation applied to ICTs.
  4. To promote, facilitate and drive innovation projects.
  5. To drive the external international projection of ICTs in health.
  6. To enhance the management and transfer of knowledge.
  7. To guarantee sustainability.

You will find references to all of the initiatives that the Fundació TicSalut sponsored in 2013, such as the seventh edition of the Map of Tendencies, the drive to the Non-Face-to-Face Healthcare Model, the work of the Office of Standards and Interoperability, the deployment of the Shared Medical Record of Catalonia (HC3), the creation of a catalogue of apps and health and social mobility projects and the work on the Master Plan of Mobility in Health and Social Healthcare.

As for the international arena, Fundació TicSalut takes a part in the development of tendencies, projects and new tools which have to mark the future of ICTs in health in Europe and the world. Amongst other events, it took part in the eHealth Week 2013 and the Mobile World Congress Barcelona. TicSalut also organised international meetings such as the 4th R&D+i Meetings in ICT and Health of Girona and the Catalan-Swedish Symbio Care Platform seminar. The foundation was also one of the promoters of the Smart Health Ecosystem Catalonia, constituted in June 2013.

The Fundació TicSalut’s work must be highlighted in the management and transfer of knowledge, in which it collaborated with several Catalan universities and training centres in defining and starting up teaching plans and subjects for degrees, postgraduates and doctorates in eHealth. Furthermore, a specific space was set up as a Guide to Courses in eHealth on the ticsalut.cat website. The creation of the TicSalut Chair, headed by Dr. García Cuyàs and with the collaboration of Vic University, was also one of the milestones of 2013.

Fundació TicSalut is currently working on the priorities for 2014, which are also referred to in the Annual Report 2013.
