RESULTS OF THE SURVEY OF THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR CITIZENS CARE

Regarding My Health

The majority of the Heads of Citizen Care (RAC) say they have some kind of web service, highlighting the suggestions and complaints services and the programming of primary care appointments. The remaining minority who declare that they do not have web services therefore become the exception and future editions of the study should identify their causes.

When asked about My Health, RACs highlight personalised recommendations of self-monitoring and health, the services to make suggestions and/or complaints, and eConsultation as the three most important services (90% of respondents consider them to be essential).

On the other hand, when the RACs are asked where the accreditation and use of My Health is being promoted, despite the variety of the responses, one third of respondents say they do not promote them. A "vacuum" is therefore identified between the expectations placed on My Health and the role given to the centres in patient registry. When evaluating the survey from the qualitative point of view, up to six centres declare that they would like to take a more active role in promoting My Health.

Regarding citizens participation

Regarding the participation of the citizens and in coherence with the Health Plan 2016-2020, which aims at the application of digital health in the patient experience, the results show that the surveys are no longer the only channel of participation of the patients for more direct participation channels such as interviews, focus groups and ethical committees, among others.

Regarding the use of the social networks

Finally, about 60% of the respondents say that they use the social networks to interact with patients. Other types of content, such as video or photo repositories, blogs or professional networks, are still minority.

Conclusions

While it is true that the results of the pilot study must be interpreted according to the potential selection bias (a sample that may not be representative of the total), the results do show the interest of incorporating ICT in the relationship between health centres and patients. My Health is identified as the gateway to digital health, but its use is still declared as incipient despite the interest of the provider centres.
