ICT as a lever for CatSalut’s strategic map

Within the framework of the 2021-2025 Health Plan approved by the Catalan Parliament, CatSalut, the Catalan Health Service, has presented the Strategic Map 2022-2024, which sets out the priorities, projects and actions it will carry out in this period. ICT plays a key role in the plan, as this coupled with investment will be the driving force behind it.

The plan sets out a series of actions to evolve and improve the healthcare system based on three main areas: accessibility and equity, reorganisation, and the wallet and payment systems. As CatSalut explains, the map also includes projects that were already underway before the pandemic, but that now incorporate the lessons learned.

In the specific field of ICT, the plan envisages deploying the SISCAT Systems Plan; pushing forward the integration of social and health information systems with the launch of the Integrated Care Agency by the Department of Health and the Department of Social Rights; implementing the tissue information system, through which multi-tissue donations will be available to all centres in Catalonia; and deploying an electronic prescription system for hospital medication for integrated outpatient dispensing for SISCAT.
