On 27 March, twenty professionals from the Althaia Foundation attended a training workshop with a latest-generation android to explore opportunities for using robotics and new technologies in health care and health care education.

The workshop was useful to pool ideas from representatives of several departments in the organisation on Pepper’s features and uses in a hospital setting.

According to Althaia’s Head of Training, Bartomeu Ayala, the android would give professionals support in their everyday jobs and help users. “The robot would not replace people but would accompany them”, adding that the training workshop was useful to work in conjunction with professionals from IDNTT who employ this technology, to jointly build a final version of the robot that could be useful for health care in the short or medium term.

The activity was organised by the Althaia Foundation, the Bages University Foundation and the Training Consortium Union.
