The location of people, equipment and objects is basic to the efficient use of resources and the management of events and commercial congresses. The inner location systems are based on technologies such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which provide not enough precision.

The following i2CAT Co. solution contact tracing is based on the Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology, which allows transmitting data faster in a low range of distance with an accuracy of less than 30 cm without consuming much energy. This solution enables the indoor follow up from in real time with high precision, allowing control of the social distance between the exposition’s visitors. This solution has been designed by i2CAT is association with Fira de Barcelona, TIC Salut Social and Mobile World Capital.

The Ultra-Wideband Contact Tracing enables monitoring with high precision. Now it is possible to detect potential risky contacts for people or determining the exact location of risks in case to be needed.

The project consisted on the unrolling of devices (tags), the locating antennas and the software monitoring for managing proximity alerts. From 2020 to 2021, two tests have been done at Fira de Barcelona and the project has been presented in the Mobile World Congress. The project is not ending here but it seeks to test its possibilities on a healthcare scenario such as a hospital.
