Before the summer, the TIC Salut Social Foundation’s Board of Trustees appointed Dr Josuè Sallent as the foundation’s new director. In this edition of Flash TICSS, we wanted to get an overview of the areas he will be focussing on as the head of ICT Social Health and what initial goals he has established.

Sallent joins TIC Salut Social from the i2CAT Foundation, an organisation which participated in the development and implementation of 5G technology, crucial to the evolution of the Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Industry 4.0. According to Sallent, “The implementation of ICT in the health and social fields ought to lead to a fairer, more efficient system in a complex environment such as the one we currently find ourselves in. It gives me great pleasure to be able to work for such a well-established Foundation, with a proven track record in the sector”.

Of the objectives which the Board of Trustees and Management are contemplating, Sallent underlines the need to “become a leader in innovation in the use of ICT in the field of health and social welfare. We need to magnify the impact of our actions, increasing the number and significance of the projects within the system, while simultaneously helping to digitize the social field”.

The new director is opening the door to other sectors, while declaring that “the ICT, health and social welfare sectors will find in the Foundation a partner that will help them in their innovation processes based on or involving the use of ICT”. Finally, he underscored the “need to become a HUB in which different demands and services converge”, in which “the fields of research and knowledge (the academic sphere) and businesses and service providers” can come into contact with each other.
