Registration open for the 'Artificial intelligence applied to the health sector' webinar

If you are a SISCAT health professional, whether in the field of healthcare practice, research or innovation, and above all, if you have to make decisions with the support of innovative tools based on advanced data analysis, we invite you to attend the ‘Artificial intelligence applied to the health sector’ webinar. The session will take place next 19 December from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is fostered by the General Directorate of Planning and Professional Development supported by Bioinformatics Barcelona.

The session will be led by three renowned speakers: the president of Bioinformatics Barcelona and Professor of Computer Architecture and Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Ana Ripoll, the Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Barcelona, Jordi Vitrià, and the Philosophy of Science teacher and researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Dr. David Casacuberta.

First, Ripoll will address the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in the health industry, and explain how data generate value. Vitrià will then give an introduction to the basic concepts of artificial intelligence, dispel associated myths, and outline use cases of this technology in health. Finally, Casacuberta will discuss legal and ethical aspects with regard to data use, and will also share the perspective of patients.

The director of the TIC Salut Social Foundation, Joan Guanyabens, will also participate in the webinar and, outlining that this action is part of the Department of Health’s plan to train health professionals in the field of AI in health. In this way, the Health/AI Programme is preparing a more extensive training plan for health professionals to be announced throughout 2024, and has participated in the validation of the syllabus of this webinar and of a subsequent 8-hour introductory course that will also be organised by the General Directorate of Planning and Professional Development and Bioinformatics Barcelona.
