The Office of the DPO promotes new online training on data protection

The first edition of the online training course on Personal Data Protection organized by the Office of the Health DPO took place on Monday, 15 November 2021.

The training course is directed at workers and collaborators of the entities affiliated to the Office of the Health DPO who carry out some form of personal data processing. The course is structured in two themed blocks: Introduction to basic concepts of the law on data protection; and Rights and guarantee systems.

The first topic covers the provisions established by the General Data Protection Regulation and by the Organic Law on the protection of personal data and guarantee of digital rights (LOPDGDD).

The second topic covers all the rights of data subjects recognized in the GDPR in relation to the processing of their data, the system of guarantees foreseen in the GDPR and the predominant role granted to the supervisory authorities to supervise the application of this regulation.

The course methodology provides the students with the digital and multimedia learning materials necessary so they can study and work on all the content independently and flexibly.Students can also access a discussion forum to raise questions and discuss issues related to the subject at hand in which a Facilitator is present to moderate the proceedings, encouraging students to actively take part. Once the all the material has been studied, an assessment of the acquired knowledge is carried out.

In this way, students can learn more about the data protection regulations applied to specific cases of use in their daily professional activities.

More than 175 students have taken part in the current edition of the course. The Office of the Health DPO plans to organize new editions of the training course from February 2022, which will address issues such as the duties and obligations of entities or ethical principles in the use of data for research.
