Description

Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) in Telecommunications is a key instrument of the EU to facilitate cross-border interaction between public administrations, companies and citizens, through the implementation of digital services infrastructures (DSI) and broadband networks. The funded projects will contribute to the creation of a European ecosystem of interoperable and interconnected digital services that sustain the digital single market.

This project aims for Catalonia, through Spain, to be part of a European P2P network (peer-to-peer), which allows the exchange of Patient Summary (PS) and ePrescription (eP) and thus facilitate the achievement of the following objectives:

  1. Enable seamless cross-border care and secure access to patient health information between European healthcare systems, particularly with respect to the exchange of Patient Summary and ePrescription.
  2. Contribute to patient safety by reducing the frequency of medical errors and through quick access to patient health information, as well as improving the patient’s accessibility to their own recipes even when they are abroad .
  3. Provide rescue information for emergency situations to health personnel and reduce the repetition of diagnostic procedures.

The aforementioned services will be approved and deployed in accordance with the strategic plan below:

  • 2020: Patient Summary as Country A and B.
  • 2021: ePrescription as Country A and B.

At the end of the action, Catalonia will be in a position to be part of the EU-level exchange of Patient Summary and ePrescription through the National Contact Point of eHealth of Spain.
