12 SISCAT providers apply for the Data Spaces Kit call with support from the Foundation

Over recent months, the TIC Salut i Social Foundation has been working closely with organisations within Catalonia’s public healthcare system (SISCAT), offering tailored guidance to those interested in applying for the Data Spaces Kit (KTED) call, led by the Ministry for Digital Transformation. The initiative aims to support their integration into the Catalan Health Data Space (EDSC) while strengthening the sector’s capabilities in secure and well governed data sharing. This effort has resulted in the submission of 12 applications.

The process began with an open webinar to introduce the call and provide initial guidance, followed by one to one support for participating organisations. This included bilateral meetings, help in addressing technical challenges and questions, feedback on project proposals, and ongoing coordination with the Catalan Health Service and the EDSC. The goal throughout was to provide practical, hands on support tailored to each organisation’s needs.

This work has made the application process more accessible and has helped providers build the capabilities needed to move forward with data sharing initiatives based on trust, interoperability and security. It has also generated valuable insights into the real needs of organisations and the key factors that will enable their gradual integration into a sectoral data space.

Looking ahead, and pending the publication of results from 30 June 2026, Joan Guanyabens, Director of the TIC Salut i Social Foundation, highlights that “this work marks an important first step towards consolidating health data spaces in Catalonia and helps prepare the system for upcoming European frameworks, particularly the European Health Data Space (EHDS)”. He also notes that “it opens the door to new use cases focused on more efficient, secure and well governed data sharing, ultimately contributing to improving the health system”.

About the KTED call

The KTED call is part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and is managed by Red.es. It aims to encourage both public and private organisations to take part in sector specific data spaces. The programme provides funding to support organisations at different stages, from initial onboarding to more advanced roles such as data providers.

Overall, the initiative seeks to accelerate digital transformation, reduce technical and regulatory barriers, and promote secure and interoperable data sharing. It also contributes to boosting competitiveness, innovation and sustainability in key sectors, in line with European data strategies.
