Robert Rubió becomes a member of the support pool of experts of the European Data Protection Board

The head of the Office of the Data Protection Officer at TIC Salut Social Foundation, Robert Rubió, has become a member of the support pool of experts of the European Data Protection Board. He will collaborate on projects in the technical and legal field of new technologies and data security.

The European Data Protection Board is an independent European body, which contributes to the consistent application of data protection rules throughout the European Union and promotes cooperation between the EU’s data protection authorities. One of its strategic initiatives is the pool of experts that Rubió has joined, made up of experts in new technologies, website security, operating systems and mobile applications, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, anonymisation techniques, and other issues related to privacy in the digital world. The objective of the pool of experts will be to increase the board’s ability to supervise and ensure the protection of personal data.

At the TIC Salut Social Foundation, the Data Protection Officer is responsible for monitoring compliance with data protection regulations, as well as ensuring that data subjects are informed of their rights and obligations in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

Rubió has led the team at the Office of the Data Protection Officer since its creation. He is an associate lecturer in public international law at the University of Barcelona and is a member of Barcelona City Council’s Ethics Committee. He holds a degree in law from Pompeu Fabra University, and master’s degrees in ICT Law from ESADE, advanced public management from the University of Barcelona, and the European Union from UNED. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Spanish Professional Association for Privacy, and Barcelona Bar Association.
