The Subcommittee for the Adoption of Innovation in the Health System, coordinated by Biocat on behalf of the Department of Health, has published the report on the Operational Plan for Access to Innovation in the Catalan Health System. It was presented on 22 September at Palau Robert, Barcelona. The Plan sets out the means and mechanisms for accessing innovation in the Health System of Catalonia and, ultimately, for reaching the population as a whole.
As the Department of Health highlights, the plan especially focuses on speeding up the development and adoption of innovations that improve the population’s health and wellbeing and contribute to the country’s development and social and economic progress, which are the most strategic and prioritised by the system because they transform it and make it more resilient.
The plan is structured through the following five priority actions described in the report, which will start to be developed and implemented progressively to improve the current process to bring innovation into the Health System: governance and institutional leadership, needs and priorities of the Health System, distributed and coordinated evaluation capacity, identification of the innovative ecosystem, and the innovation and evaluation support unit.
