The DPD office of the TIC Salut Social Foundation extends its functions to all public sector entities that choose to adhere

Today, the Order SLT/131/2024 comes into effect. It was published yesterday in the DOGC and regulates the organization of the Data Protection Delegation within the Department of Health and its public sector entities.

The organization of the data protection delegate’s functions can be managed either by appointing a dedicated delegate or by transferring responsibilities to an entity within its public sector.

Currently, the TIC Salut Social Foundation, through the Data Protection Officer (ODPO), is the entity responsible for managing these functions for the Department of Health, the Catalan Health Service, and the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS), along with 37 entities in the sector.

Scope of the Order

In this regard, the Order maintains the function of the ODPD and opens the possibility to extend it to non-adhering entities. These entities have a three-month period from the publication of the Order to express their intent and ensure the continuity of data protection during this transitional period.

In this context, the role of the data protection coordinator of the adhering entities is also maintained and consolidated as a direct interlocutor with the ODPD.

With these measures, the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya acknowledges the track record of the entities providing healthcare services and the ODPD. It also reaffirms its commitment to complying with legislative standards, improving the management and security of personal data in such a sensitive sector as health, and strengthening citizens’ trust in public institutions and their privacy policies.
