The European network of regional and local health authorities highlights three good practices in Catalonia in the use of health data

The European network of regional and local health authorities (European Regional and Local Health Authorities, EUREGHA) has published the ‘Best Practices on Health Data’brochure, outlining three leading good practices in the use of health data in Catalonia: the Programme for the Promotion and Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Health System of Catalonia (Health/AI programme), the digital skills project COMPDIG-Health, and the Blue Button on the My Health platform.

The document includes a total of 13 good practices highlighted in the field of health data and digital health in Europe, classified into three groups: national and regional strategies, practices in telemedicine, and practices in the use and/or collection of health data. Each case presented includes a project description that provides information on the methodology and processes followed, key challenges, potential for transfer to other regions and local authorities, and key learnings in terms of both barriers and facilitators in implementing them.

In the publication, EUREGHA highlights that “regional and local health authorities have been extremely active in order to face the challenges in digital health and health data”, and remarks that “it is important to learn from their experience to build even more local, regional, national and European frameworks”.
