The TIC Salut Social Foundation publishes the update of the Catalan Extension of SNOMED CT 2024

The TIC Salut Social Foundation publishes the update of the Catalan Extension of SNOMED CT 2024. A key standard for interoperability in the Catalan health and social system. This standard is developed together with health professionals and the annual update follows the criteria established by SNOMED International to ensure the quality and consistency of health and social information in our environment.

Main improvements and new features of the 2024 version

Highlights include the creation of 260 new concepts and 406 relationships between concepts distributed by areas of major clinical importance. The update features over 9,000 descriptions and over 500 relationships with a special focus on high frequency of use and priority clinical areas. The review and expansion of thousands of concepts in the current subsets, adding specification and detail in key areas of health and social welfare, sees the creation of new subsets such as PROMS forms, substances, microbiology, and improvements in social vulnerability monitoring, contributing to an enrichment of the extension.

The Catalan Extension of SNOMED CT 2024 is available to health providers in Catalonia and this year can be requested by using the following form: https://ticsalutsocial.cat/formulari-dobtencio-de-snomed-ct-2/

The maintenance of SNOMED CT’s Catalan Extension allows the use of Catalan in information systems in a semantically standardised way, benefiting both professionals and patients with more immediate, efficient and accessible healthcare.
