Joan Guanyabens, the new Director of the ICT Salut Social Foundation

The Board of Trustees of the TIC Salut Social Foundation appointed Joan Guanyabens as the organisation’s new Director at the meeting held on 28 February 2023.

Guanyabens has had a long career in health care management and has actively collaborated with the TIC Salut Social Foundation, as a consultant from 2020 and as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2012.

He graduated in medicine at the University of Barcelona and holds a master’s degree in Health Management from ESADE. Throughout his professional career he has held various positions of responsibility in the public sector: Director of the Catalan Health Agency for Health Information, Evaluation and Quality (2009-2012), General ICT Coordinator (2007-2012), and an advisor, evaluator, auditor and expert in health information systems at the European Commission (1988-2001).

In the academic field, he is a former General Director of the Vic Advanced Studies in Health Sciences Foundation (2017-2019). He is the director of the master’s degree in digital health at OBS Business School, and the academic co-director and lecturer on the master’s degree in health care Big Data at ENIIT Innova IT business school.

Finally, he also has experience in the private sector: he is the founder of the Saluscoop cooperative, and worked as Director of Health Information Technologies at PwC (2012-2015), among other positions.
