In 16 European countries, EIT Health is promoting i-Days, a series of days with different activities to promote health innovation among university students. The conference will take place in hybrid format with the participation of various academic institutions from all over Europe as the epicentre of the face-to-face activities.
On 9, 10 and 11 November, i-Days will be held at the University of Vic – University of Central Catalonia. Taking the format of a hackathon, it is aimed at undergraduate, postgraduate and technological master’s degree students from any university, as well as Higher Vocational Training Courses in Prosthetic Audiology.
During the Vic i-Days 2022, at the Faculty of Medicine and in the Torre dels Frares building of the UVic-UCC, participants will have to find answers to the challenge of democratising access to hearing health. With a focus on physical, social or digital accessibility for people with hearing deficits, the types of solutions that can be considered range from digital tools for specific cases to solutions aimed at prevention or improvement in the diagnosis process.
The participants in the competition will form a total of 14 teams and will receive a varied range of explanations and presentations by professionals from the health and technology sectors. They will also be able to count on the experience and advice of fifteen mentors related to the proposed topic, whom they will be able to connect with online on 9 and 10 November.
The TIC Salut Social Foundation will take part and offer its knowledge as a mentor in matters related to the interoperability of systems, mobile and digital health, and the organisational structure of the Catalan Health System in the planning and provision of health care services. The participants will thus be able to resolve doubts in real time and receive guidance on developing their solutions.
Students can register individually or as ready-made teams through the following link. In the case of individual registrations, the UVic-UCC will be responsible for arranging the teams based on the participants’ skills.
The winning team at each i-Day will attend the winners’ event, a final competition that brings together students from all around Europe. No prior experience is required. Just a desire to meet people, learn and participate.
The best three solutions will receive a cash prize of €800 and the winning team at the hackathon will be able to take part in the European finals with all the teams that took part in competitions held in the other participating countries. The final will take place in Vienna on 24 and 25 November. The finalists will receive a maximum grant of €400 to cover travel expenses.
