Social Rights grants more than €13 million to tech projects for care provision

The Catalan Government Department of Social Rights has published its proposal to issue grants for tech projects for the attention and care of people, which is included in category 2 of the call for grants from the Next Generation EU fund, promoted by the department. Specifically, it proposes to grant €13,221,000 to boost 33 initiatives that use technology to provide solutions to people in situations of dependency, disability or social problems arising from mental illness.

During the evaluation process, the department has sought the expertise of the technical team of the Social Area of the TIC Salut Social Foundation, which has offered advice and technical support for the technological assessment of projects. These projects may have various objectives, such as aiding personal autonomy, care, maintenance of the person in their home environment, integrated social and health care, as well as the participation and involvement of the volunteer network.

Other categories of the call for grants

As part of the same call, the Department of Social Rights has also published its decision on categories 1 and 5: investment in new residential and day centres and remodelling of existing centres, and modernisation and transformation of residential centres for children and adolescents currently and formerly under guardianship, and the energy and environmental transition of youth facilities.

In total, Social Rights will invest €142,350,000 by 2025 in building or remodelling 117 residential and day centres, the modernisation and ecological transformation of 14 services for children under guardianship, the energy transition of 41 youth facilities, and boosting 33 tech projects for care provision.

It is expected that the provisional decisions on the rest of the grant categories, which address the technological improvement of social services and the promotion of innovative projects in this sector, will be published this February. In this case, the technical team of the Social Area of the TIC Salut Social Foundation was involved in the technological evaluation of categories 3 and 4.
