Why do we have to consider the accreditation of ICT devices, systems or services in the health sector?

In a context of coexistence of many different information systems in health, interoperability is essential to easily integrate the information without its meaning being lost. Therefore, interoperability is not only important from the technical viewpoint, but also from the viewpoint of healthcare.

In this sense, the Catalan health system strives to achieve a set of interoperability standards in addition to actively promoting the use of approved systems, devices and services that use these standards. 

In order to advise and accompany professionals in the process of adjusting their products to the functional and interoperability requirements needed for integration in the Catalan health centres, the Fundació TicSalut offers an accreditation service through the Oficina d’Estàndards i Interoperabilitat. This process enables ICT providers to truly guarantee that their device, service or system complies with the application of standards.
