Citizens will therefore be able to access applications to help them manage their own health, to improve its monitoring, to control it and even to receive advice on their lifestyle with solutions dealing with feeding and exercise. The applications in this shop window will go through a rigorous process of accreditation and certification so that they might reach users with a full guarantee of quality. At the same time, doctors, nurses and social service agents will also be able to recommend these tools to their patients.

This project will also be a way to facilitate the transformation of the different healthcare and social processes and to create an environment of confidence for all mobility tools, such as applications or remote monitoring tools for chronic disease.

mHealth will therefore contribute to improving the quality of the health system and to making it more sustainable. It will also allow a more agile and smarter medicine with personalised, proactive and predictive services to give citizens more autonomy.

Health and Technology also with the Patient Consultative Council of Catalonia

Precisely to give a greater air to present mobile application tools in the area of health, on the past 9 January, the Mobile World Center of Barcelona put on the Meeting of Health and Technology with the Patient Consultative Council of Catalonia.

The event included interventions from Mr. Francesc Garcia Cuyàs, general ICT coordinator of the Health Department and director of Fundació TicSalut, Mr. Joan Cornet, director of the mHealth Competence Centre, Mr. Jordi Martínez, director of innovation of Fundació TicSalut and Mrs. Bárbara Vallespín, manageress of the mHealth Competence Centre.

The meeting was also used to view the needs and expectations of patients with regard to the new technologies.

Both the Plan and the Meeting are two examples of how technology and health go hand-in-hand in Catalonia to improve the system, to empower patients and to contribute to being benchmarks in healthcare quality.
