During the international meeting, ICT companies and entities were given the opportunity to discuss innovations in communication between patient and provider, consumers health, data analysis, etc. Fundació TicSalut participated in the round table “The Long and Winding Road to Adoption”, a discussion that examined the main obstacles today concerning the adoption of new technologies in the health sector.

Marc de San Pedro, who represents Fundació TicSalut and coordinates the Càtedra de TIC Salut (ICT Health Chair) at the University of Vic, mainly talked about solutions and presented some developments fostered by the Fundació, including the possibility of consulting the Personal Health Folder “Cat@Salut, La Meva Salut” through the mobile phone, a digital space to consult personal health data which also enables procedures to be followed and questions to be asked and which, from now on, will allow citizens to access it through mobile devices.

In this sense, de San Pedro highlights that “the development of the Personal Health Folder (Cat@Salut, La Meva Salut) all around Catalonia, with access through login and robust password, is accelerating its adoption and use among citizens, and at the same time guarantees the confidentiality of their data”.

Joan Cornet, mHealth director of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, and Daniel Steenstra, from the Royal Academy of Engineering of the UK, also attended the round table. Mr Steenstra examined the existing barriers regarding the adoption of the digital health in the UE and the most adequate strategies to be used by the healthcare organisations in making the health system more connected, better informed and more intuitive. The round table ended with the approval by the participants of the leadership role that Catalonia has assumed in the adoption of ICT in Health and mHealth.

According to the Fundació TicSalut representative, “this is an initiative that contributes to making our region visible in ICT innovation and Health at an international level”.
