The congress is organised jointly by the Eurecat technology centre, the Hospital Clínic, the Fundació TicSalut and by the professionals of the patient XPA-Experience practice community, with the aim of "promoting the patient's experience as a lever of change to improve the way of providing health services," emphasizes the director of the e-Health Unit of Eurecat, Felip Miralles.

In this sense, “there is a growing concern for measuring the patient’s experience”, highlights doctor Joan Escarrabill, director of the Hospital Clinic’s Chronicity Care Program.

For the international projects manager of the Fundació TicSalut, Tino Martí, the XPatient Congress is "a meeting point specialised in the patient's experience in the health community" and offers keys on "the evaluation, design and technology that is being developed in health centres in the field of patient experience."

Both Dr. Escarrabill and Martí and Felip Miralles will be taking part in the congress, which will also be attended by the researcher of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Josep Maria Monguet, specialising in innovation in health; and Dr. Helen Ward, director of the Imperial Patient Experience Research Centre (PERC) of the United Kingdom, among other experts.

Practice community in patient experience

The XPatient Barcelona Congress will present the advances made in the last year by the XPatient Barcelona practice community, made up of professionals from the Hospital Clínic, the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, the Hospital Consortium of Vic, the University of Vic, the Arnau Hospital of Vilanova, ISGlobal, AQuAS, TicSalut and the Eurecat technology centre, which promote activities to share knowledge and skills related to the patient's experience.

Overall, the program will deal with experiences regarding co-creation with patients and participatory procedures where the user is the main player, the state of the art and trends in the evaluation of the patient’s experience and experiences around the empowerment of the patient and carer.

The innovative xpatient experiences technology at the service of the patient is another of the topics of the present edition, which will also deal with the interactive tools to support self-care.

The event is aimed at patients, carers and relatives, associations of patients and third sector entities dedicated to patient care, research organisations applied to the welfare sector, public administrations and private entities with decision-making capacity for the adoption of new solutions and practices that improve patient care quality, service companies and technology companies with solutions to improve the quality of care.
