Following a proposal from the Ministry of Health, during a meeting held on 19 September 2006, the Catalan government authorized the creation of the ICT Centre and Health Foundation. On 9 October, the Foundation established itself in Mataró as part of the TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme Technology Park.
The ICT Social Health Foundation is currently made up of various public administrations involved in the fields of healthcare, social welfare and information and communication technologies, together with groups of hospitals and health centres. The Foundation’s main activities consist of acting as an observatory; producing a Trends Report and a Report on ICT Experiences in the sector; promoting innovations in eHealth, health 2.0 and international projects; standardization and accreditation through its Interoperability Office and, lastly, producing monthly publications such as the Flash ICT Social Heath newsletter and maintaining a presence on social media.
The Foundation also has three advisory boards: The Business Advisory Board, the Professionals and the Public Advisory Board, and the Scientific Advisory Board.
